Our Story

Communities Know What They Need. We Help Build the Path Forward.

Village International Inc. was founded on a straightforward premise: the people closest to a challenge understand it best, and they should lead the response to it.

Village International Inc. is a grassroots, community-rooted organization. We work with and alongside women and girls, survivors of gender-based violence, young people, and communities living with poverty, stigma and discrimination — including rural communities that are often left out of national programming.

Our work is led by women and young people, and it rejects shame, silence and discrimination. Every woman and girl deserves dignity, voice and power over her own life, regardless of her background, health status or circumstances.

Village International works with community organizations, women's groups, schools, clinics and local leaders. Together we identify priorities, design programming and agree in advance how success will be measured.

Our programming spans health and well-being, education and skills, protection and human rights, economic opportunity and community development. These areas overlap in real life, so we plan them together rather than separately.

Across all of it, our approach is community-led, survivor-centered and intersectional: grassroots organizing, gender justice, sexual and reproductive health and rights, healing, and community solidarity are treated as parts of the same work.

We are a small organization by design. Resources go to local delivery and to the partners who will still be present after any single project ends.

Change begins with all of us.
